Starting a blog in winter can be a challenge because I don't have any pretty flowers to show you. However I was so excited to start my blog and to "meet" others who are as passionate about gardening as I am, that I couldn't wait until spring. On this post I thought I'd show you some pictures of my garden taken in 2012. We enlarged our gardens this past fall and have plans to increase them again in spring, so I will have so much to show you this year! I did not put a caption under the pictures, so if you have a question about anything you see, please ask me and I'll be happy to answer you!! I hope you enjoy!!
I am so looking forward to spring so I can share more of my garden with you.
Happy Gardening!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Skeeter! I have a surprise planned for one of the new beds. I think it's going to be really special and I can't wait to start it in spring. So many projects...so little time!!
DeleteThere's nothing I like more this time of year than looking at photos of glorious blooms for the past season. Your garden is simply beautiful! Looking forward to seeing more of it in the months to come.
ReplyDeleteRose..thank you so much!! I'm so glad you like it. It represents a lot of hard work but I've loved every minute of it!! I look forward to sharing more of my garden with you in the coming months!

ReplyDeleteNice photos! I just can not wait for spring!
ReplyDeleteHi There! I agree...I can't wait for spring. Even though it's not officially spring, March 1st is the date I consider the start of my gardening season. Thanks for visiting my blog!
DeleteHello Christie, Love your cottage garden! I see you grow some of my favorite plants, such as cleome. You have many more flower beds than me, although I have the space. It must be wonderful for two of you to share the load. My husband is very helpful, but not very handy, and not a master gardener. Thank you for visiting my blog. P. x
ReplyDeleteHi Pam..Thanks so much!! We have a lot of beds and more coming in spring. I can't seem to stop myself! I just took a walk outside to check out the gardens and it's just so wet from all the rain and sleet we've had. Hard to believe that in a very short time it'll be so dry that I'll be wishing for some rain! Thank you for visiting and please visit again soon!
DeleteYou have a lot of beautiful flowers! What are the big light pink and dark pink rose bushes?
ReplyDeleteHi Sweetbay...Thank you so much! Don't you agree that we have many of the same flowers!!! The rose bushes you asked about are regular knockout roses. One is pink and the other is actually red. I have several knockouts in the yard including three yellow ones. As you can see I allow most of them to get really big.
DeleteHi Christy! First, thanks so much for visiting and leaving such a kind comment on my own blog. I appreciate it! Second, welcome to the blogosphere! You have a beautiful garden. I really enjoyed your photos. I look forward to seeing more! I also enjoyed your previous post. We have both hawks and owls living year round on our property, and I always welcome the sight of them, though little songbirds may not be so happy about their neighbors. I do believe the predator birds in my yard prefer tasty ground squirrels and gophers, of which we have a plentiful supply.
ReplyDeleteHello! I'm so glad you visited my blog and enjoyed my posts! It would sure be wonderful if "my" hawks eat moles because for some reason last year a lot of them started showing up in the garden...(I'd never had a problem before that).I hope you visit again....come spring I'll have so much to show everyone!!
DeleteIt is a lovely garden, and it is fantastic how much you have done in relatively few years. I hope I can give you a little inspiration from the gardens of England, when I myself am visiting them - probably not so much from my own garden here, as it is a bit wild (by that I mean that it is not se extremely well kept, as I am not here all the time...) But the wildlife don’t mind that at all... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI started blogging in Danish 3 years ago, and I have enjoyed it so much and made many friends. My English blog is rather new - but I hope to make many friends here too...
Hi Mia....Thank you so much....we have done quite a lot in eight years. I have more beds coming in spring...I just can't seem to stop making them! I am already having a wonderful "trip" to England seeing it through your pictures! Your right about the wildlife...they don't care what your garden looks like. I think they are appreciative of the plants you have thoughtfully put in for them. I'm sure you will make a lot of friends on your blog. I know I'm really enjoying meeting nice people like you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgous garden you have. Its reminds me of our first home and gardens. It was mostly sunny and we raised kids, veggies and flowers there. Then when the kids grew up and left we "downsized," building a new home in an oak woods. Now I have woodland wildflowers and paths, even eliminating lawn areas to further downsize the work.
ReplyDeleteHi troutbirder! Thank you so much! Over the past couple of years we have increased the size of the front gardens, eliminating lawn as we go. This spring we're increasing one of the beds again and I'll have pictures of our progress. Since we don't have much shade, I've been thinking of making a path through our woods and planting woodland wildflowers, hostas, etc. It's quite a ways away from the house, (separated by a small pasture)so I'm not sure when I will get to that project, but it's on the list!!
DeleteI love all the colors. You have a lot of sunshine to give those great blooms.
ReplyDeleteYour gardens are amazing, Christy! As a garden blogger, it is indeed hard to know what to post in wintertime. You did great, though. Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! You do have a green thumb! Your garden is like a sanctuary full of lovely blooming flowers. I can see your hard work in this garden because you were able to make them all grow this beautiful. Maybe you can add more walk path and benches, so if anyone wants to visit, there would be a chair to sit on while they enjoy the beauty of your garden.
