The Magical Beauty of Spring!

Spring is a wonderful time of year. In my garden the air is filled with the wonderful fragrance of blooming flowers and freshly cut grass. The birds are singing and busy building their nests and there is usually a warm breeze that makes the trees and flowers dance.
This spring seems magical because the garden is changing daily and everything is doing so well. Shrubs that previously never flowered have flowers and trees that never did very well are covered in beautiful green leaves.
Today I thought we would walk along in silence and just enjoy the beauty of spring!

In wildlife news, we have four nesting Mockingbirds in the garden (that I'm aware of.) There are nests in the old Pear tree, the Crossvine, the Rose arbor and the Photinias. It's been fun watching the Mockers build their nests. I hope to see baby Mockers soon!

I hope this spring has brought magic to your garden. Until next time....

Happy Gardening!

  3. Oh my! You have so many gorgeous blooms. The peonies are beautiful! My Grandmother grew them in her garden in Mississippi. They are my Moms favorite flower! Wish I could grow them here in TX. Those red Poppies are so pretty! Your garden is so amazing. Have fun watching the Mockingbirds. Hope you have a great weekend:)

    1. Hi Steph...thank you so much for your comments! I love Peonies too and I'm so glad they do well here. I planted several new ones this year and hope they flower next year. The Mockers have been putting on quite a show. I just went out for a quick walk while it stopped raining (for about 5 minutes :-( ) and saw two different kinds of baby birds in the bushes. It's such an amazing time! Hope you have a good weekend too and thanks so much for visiting!

  4. A beautiful spring is emerging in your garden. Love the rose covered arch and the rustic gate! You're right, it all changes every day, so rapidly that it is hard to savor everything. Don't you wish these beautiful sights would hang on for a while!

    1. Hi Laurrie....Thank you so much! I really like that rose covered arch and that's where one of the Mockingbirds made the nest. It's very exciting to see all the new blooms and growth, but I do agree that it would be nice if everything hung on a while longer. I'm sad to see some of the things go...like the Iris. Thanks for stopping by today!

    1. Hi Beth...thank you so much for your wonderful comments. I really appreciate that you like my design. Some of the beds in the back (which are the oldest) are maturing nicely so you can't see the ground, which is exactly what I want. I have several different Weigelas because I think they're so pretty. So glad you visited today!

    1. Hi there....So funny that you say that! How I wish I had neighbors that liked to garden. We live in the country so the neighbors aren't right beside us like in a neighborhood. On one side is a rental. The renter keeps it neat, but that's about it. On the other side the people don't take care of their yard at all (thank goodness for big shrubs!) However, the people that live across the street don't have flowers or many shrubs, but their place is always very neat. Thanks for visiting today!

  11. So gorgeous! Besides the visual beauty, I think one the greatest joys from a garden comes from the wildlife. It is like they appreciate the beauty of the place as much as we do. Even as i sit inside at my computer, I can hear the birds outside singing. It makes me happy!

  14. Everything is looking wonderful, Christy! That beautiful rose climbing over your archway really seems to be flourishing, and the peonies and irisis are just lovely. Strangely, when we had a lot of rain early on last year, the plants seemed to do better than ever too, not so great for us gardeners having to dig and plant out in it though ;-)

  16. Beautiful! I think I always say this when I come here but I'll say it again: I love your iris. :)

Sorry if I've asked this before -- what's the pale apricot rose on the arbor? And is the yellow rose pictured below that Yellow Knockout?

    1. Hi sweetbay...you can repeat that as often as you like!! Thank you very much! Unfortunately I don't know the name of the rose on the arbor. However, the yellow one is the Yellow Knockout. Thanks so much for visiting!
